The Center for Advanced Hindsight had a problem internally where people were leaving their dirty dishes around after communal meetings.
Calls for people to clean didn’t really accomplish what they hoped so they decided to use a combination of public shaming and peer pressure.
They introduced personalized coffee mugs for every single employee that had their names on the mug. Now, people who left their dishes unwashed and in communal locations would be clearly known to everyone else.
It’s a simple and effective way to influence other peoples behavior.
